Troilo is a small town in the semi-independent region of Sutiava. Mostly populated by Spanish-speaking Indians, Vistalam’s Pastor and Founder, Porfirio Gonzalez, faces an uphill battle. With a large non-Christian population, the challenge of sharing the faith is often shunned.
However, this servant of God does not look back; he marches on to find homes and hearts where spiritual seeds may grow, preparing young minds for a better tomorrow and sharing the bread of life.

Who is Pastor Porfilio Efraim Gonzalez?
Pastor Efraim Gonzalez was born in xxx and had no plans to become a member of any church. However, after one too many beers, he became chronically ill, and the doctors ruled out life after a few weeks. When all was set for days of mourning, God brought Porfirio back to life.
Porfirio Efraín González Jaime married Geronima del Socorro Ruiz Castro in 1995 and are parents to three children.
In 2009, he founded the Mountain View church in Troilo, Leon, Nicaragua. This same location became the foundation for two additional projects.
- Youth Support Center: A children and youth assistance project that aids the community with needed scholarly and medical help while providing an early Christian education.
- Christian Institute: A secondary school (high school) dedicated to the community
What we need to make this happen
One of the greatest setbacks to providing quality education is the need for better-educated teachers. Almost 50% of the labor force are university students who work under a volunteer contract.
To provide a stable labor force and competitive salary, the school would require funding:
- Health Insurance: The local government requires about 7% of an employee’s salary to allow continued coverage of labor-related incidents. The college is unable to provide this assistance to its labor force.
A donation of US$1,500 per year could make this a reality. Donate Now.
- Competitive Salary: The minimum teacher salary in Nicaragua is around $276 – $300 USD per month, depending on the grade level and specialization. Recent adjustments reflect a small increase compared to the basic cost of living in the country.
Currently, the college can only afford $110 per teacher. A donation of $17,500 could make this happen. Donate Now
