The recently launched science challenge quiz at the Mountain View College was dominated by a show of knowledge and art by the student body. After six weeks of strong competition, the second-grade students emerged victorious.

In April 2025, Mountain View College launched its first-ever science challenge quiz dubbed The John Harper Science Quiz. The program covered topics from four major science areas, including Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, and Literature.

Students from all five grades participated by electing teams of four members each. The contest pitted teams against each other, grade against grade, topic against topic. The contest got off to a smashing start, showcasing victories for seventh grade, eighth grade, and eleventh grade.

Eighth Grade Students Dominate Science Challenge Quiz

Eleventh Grade awarded silver medals

As the grades went back and forth, winning one week, losing in the next, one thing became clear. The eighth-grade students remained undefeated during the contest. They won against each grade that they faced and cruised to the finals invictus.

The eighth-grade team was formed with four of the best students, each excelling in a special discipline. There was Calet in Geography, Abda in Math, Snyder in Science, and Britani in Literature. Although all grades had the same study guides, this team did not fail to answer any of the questions posed to them.

Most teams lost a match for failing to answer a question, while the other team took advantage of the moment and secured the point.  This was common in the second leg, where the ninth grade was eliminated by the first grade, and the tenth grade by the eleventh grade.

Finally, the eleventh grade came in second place, and the eighth grade was crowned champions of the first John Harper Science Challenge Quiz.

During the award ceremony, the champions received gold medals and the runner-up, silver medals. All medals were sponsored by donations.
